Introductory Spanish for Non-Native Speakers
FLSPN 001 introduces current Spanish. This first semester course stresses pronunciation,
understanding, speaking, writing, and reading. Emphasis is placed on basic vocabulary
and essentials for grammar, along with an introduction to Hispanic culture. (Spanish
001 is not suggested for the bilingual student). Spanish 001 and 011 cannot both be
taken for credit.

Elementary Spanish for Non-Native Speakers
FLSPN 002 continues an introduction to current Spanish giving the student the
first steps to functioning effectively in the language and culture. This second semester
course stresses pronunciation, understanding, speaking, writing, and reading. Emphasis
is placed on basic vocabulary and essentials for grammar, along with an introduction
to Hispanic culture. (Spanish 002 is for non-Spanish speaking student. It is not suggested

FLSPN 011 presents current Spanish giving students the first steps to functioning
more effectively in their language and culture. This first semester course is an introduction
to correct Spanish for the minimally bilingual student with emphasis on writing, reading,
and grammar. Expansion of basic vocabulary and the essentials of grammar are presented
along with an introduction to Hispanic culture. (AA, CSU, UC) (Spanish 11 is not suggested
for the monolingual student) Spanish 11 and 1 cannot both be taken for credit.
