Geography

What can you do with a degree in geography? A lot!

Project coordinators, research scientists, teachers, government employees, planners and environmental consultants are just a few of the careers you could choose from with an Associate of Arts for Transfer (AA-T) degree in Geography from Coalinga College.

When you study geography at Coalinga College, you’ll be fully prepared to transfer into the California State University system to earn a bachelor’s degree. When you complete this degree, you’re guaranteed admission into the CSU system, but not to a specific institution or program. Students transferring to a CSU institution will be required to complete 60 units after transfer to earn a Bachelor’s degree.

While studying geography at West Hills, you’ll learn about using maps and other tools while gaining an understanding of how physical processes shape the planet we live on. Learn about how and why groups of people migrate across the earth and other ways geography affects humans.

Program Options

West Hills understands geographers have an important role to play in understanding and interpreting the many complex patterns and processes that characterize regions and determine the interactions that occur between and within these regions. Therefore, the Coalinga College geography program trains our students to view the full scope of the Earth's natural and cultural systems from a spatial perspective.
