Coalinga, Calif.— Coalinga College is launching a Women’s Basketball program and has opened the search for the team’s head coach. The new program will expand athletic opportunities for women, enrich campus life, and foster stronger ties with local communities and high schools.
“Women’s Basketball is more than adding a team. It is an investment in equity, opportunity, and pride for the Westside,” said Dr. Carla Tweed, president of Coalinga College. “Our student-athletes excel academically, step into leadership, and bring a competitive spirit that energizes our campus and community.”
As schedules are finalized for Central Valley Conference (CVC) play, Coalinga College anticipates matchups with its sister college, Lemoore College, providing Central Valley fans with a compelling local rivalry that showcases student talent on both campuses. Additional scheduling details will be shared after the coach is hired and recruiting begins.

The head coach will be responsible for building the program, including recruiting student-athletes, developing practice and game plans, fostering academic support, and establishing a culture of sportsmanship and excellence. The coach will also collaborate with campus departments to ensure student-athletes receive support in areas such as tutoring, advising, and transfer planning.
